This bumbed me out since I had previously read that this was an indication that it was a Saginaw not a Muncie. It does have a 7 bolt side cover. Doe this mean it's still an M22 but just manufactured at the Saginaw assembly plant or it's not an M22 "Rock Crusher Transmission". I am just learning !

The first time I heard the term "rock crusher" was in reference to the transmission in the 1967 L88 Corvette. Due to the low gear angle there is a fair amount of gear noise, really like a medium / heavy duty truck transmission. True enough the M22 did trickle out the door in 1965-67 and was buried in the option lists.

M-20, m-21 will have 45 degrees gears and the m-22 is 22.5 degrees. They used this to reduce friction and in turn gave it a nice greary noise thus the rock crusher.
