Fig. 1 also shows the role of ionic strength in Co(II) sorption onto diatomite. It is clear that Co(II) sorption is dependent on ionic strength at low pH, while independent of ionic strength at high pH. Based on the triple-layer model, a possible equilibrium sorption model of Co(II) with diatomite can be expressed as follows: (i) If Co(II) reacts similarly …

Diatomite was surface-modified by titanate. The effects of modification on reinforcing performance of a natural rubber/styrene butadiene rubber (NR/SBR) blend were investigated by adding modified diatomite samples, instead of amorphous precipitated silica, into the NR/SBR blend. SEM Images of Diatomite and Composite Flame-retardant Fillers. Figures 5(a) and 5(b) are the SEM images of diatomite and APP, and Figs. 5(c) and 5(d) are the SEM images of composite fillers 1 and 2, respectively. Figure 5(a) shows that diatomite is a porous material with plenty of macropores on its surface.
The mixture was put into vacuum oven to remove the entrapped air. Finally, the mixture was poured into a polish mould and placed in an oven at 120 °C for 1h, 160 °C for 2 h and 200 °C for 2 h to obtain the cured bio-based epoxy resin composites. The mass ratios of diatomite in the epoxy resin composites were set to be 15%, 20% and 25%.
The XRD analysis indicates that diatomite consists mainly of silica (SiO 2) with some Al 2 O 3, Fe 2 O 3, CaO and Na 2 O. The amorphous band may be attributed to the glass formation of SiO 2, and the peaks at 19°, 21°, 26° and 35° are the characteristic peaks of diatomite. The XRD pattern showed that diatomite is poorly crystallized.
1. Introduction. Diatomite (also called kieselguhr) is a nonrenewable natural mineral ore composed of the fossilized remains of unicellular organisms such as diatoms, radiolaria or sponges (Gómez et al., 2014).Due to its unique porous structures, high adsorption capacity and low density (Yılmaz and Ediz, 2008), diatomite is widely used …
